Redistricting Update
Posted on Apr 28th, 2026

Hi Neighbors,
I wanted to share a clear update following the recent Dublin City Schools Board of Education meeting, as this process is moving quickly and directly impacts our Bailey community.
Where Things Stand
The Board has now moved into the next phase of redistricting.
They are finalizing the criteria that will be used to create a single proposed map, which will be developed by an outside consultant. Unlike past processes, there will likely be one recommended map—not multiple options.
What this means is that input now is especially important, as it helps shape how that map is created before we ever see it.

From the most recent discussion, a few key themes stood out:
The district is prioritizing capacity balancing and proximity
There is still a clear tradeoff between:minimizing how many students are moved
and optimizing efficiency across the district
Feeder patterns (like Bailey → Coffman) are being considered, but are not currently a primary constraint
This last point is especially important for our neighborhood, as it means cohort continuity is not guaranteed unless it is clearly and consistently supported by the community.

Important Timeline
May 11: First reading of Boundary Criteria; Board reviews RFP submissions
May 21: Board adopts Boundary Criteria and awards contract to GIS firm
June 29: Proposed map presentation
This is the final phase to influence outcomes before a map is created.

How to Share Your Feedback
While the survey has closed, there are still meaningful ways to make your voice heard and at this stage, direct feedback can be even more impactful.

1. Email District Leadership
You can send your thoughts directly to the Board of Education and Superintendent. Even a short message helps ensure our neighborhood’s priorities are clearly represented.

Emails to use:

2. Speak at a Board of Education Meeting
Board meetings include time for public comment.
Comments become part of the official record
A few voices representing our neighborhood can go a long way

3. Keep Messaging Consistent
At this stage, what matters most is clear, repeated themes across many voices.
For Bailey families, the most important priorities to emphasize are:

Encourage the district to prioritize community feedback when setting criteria—including accounting for future growth, moving the least number of students, and ensuring efficient, practical travel (including biking)
Minimizing the number of students moved
Preserving the Bailey → Coffman feeder pattern
Keeping student cohorts together (considering K–12 continuity, not just middle to high school)
Supporting safe, practical transportation and reasonable travel time
While some of these priorities may overlap, consistency across many voices is what makes the greatest impact.

If you’re willing to take a few minutes to send an email or participate in a meeting, it truly does make a difference, especially when many neighbors share aligned feedback.

Link to a simple email template you can open, copy, and send to make this as easy as possible.

I’ll continue to keep you updated as we learn more. Thank you, as always, for supporting our students and community!
